Obituary

Ned Elwood Fleck Jr. 67 of Elyria, Ohio and Pipestem, West Virginia, has finally been reunited with the love of his life, Linda J. Fleck, his father, Ned E. Fleck Sr., and three of his siblings, Memory Rose Fleck, Andrew T. Fleck and Robert S. Fleck Sr. Ned bravely fought stage 4 cancer for over two long years despite being told he may only have six months left initially. Looking at Ned, you would have never known that he was even fighting a battle every moment of those two years. He remained the same strong and stubborn man that so many have come to know and love over the short 67 years we were given with him.

Ned was the best carpenter on the planet and his craftsmanship is in many homes all over the country. He could build, fix and mend anything you put in front of him and make it even better than ever before. Ned loved classic cars and trucks but nothing would ever compare to his love for an original Harley Davidson. He spent nearly a decade building his dream Harley; going all over to different swap meets and scouring EBay for all the original parts he needed to complete his vision. In early 2018, his dream finally came true and his Harley was ready to ride. Anyone who knows Ned can only imagine the smile on his face as he cranked it up and took off down the road.

Ned was so proud of his West Virginia roots and loved to share stories of his childhood spent with his siblings and cousins in the mountains. Eventually he made his way back to West Virginia and began sharing new stories of the people he'd met on his new mountainside home, especially his best friend Marvin Purdy. The two would often spend their time tinkering on things around Ned's house or exploring the area to see what they could get into next.

Ned Elwood Fleck Jr. was a great man who may have been a little rough around the edges at times but he loved everyone in his life with everything he had. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Ruth Fleck, his brother, Danny Fleck, his sister, Lora Gray, his three daughters; Lindsey Fleck, Megan Fleck and Natalie Lebron, his stepson, Loren Hartsel III, and his 5 grandsons and 9 grand daughters. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Saturday March 15, 2025 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria, Ohio 44035. Funeral services and burial will be private.
