Nancy J. Kelley, (nee-DeWitt), 85, of Elyria passed away peacefully on Saturday September 7, 2024, following a short illness. Nancy was born November 8, 1938 in Greenwich, Ohio, the daughter of the late Hubert D. and Edith G. DeWitt. She was a 1956 graduate of Greenwich High School and a 1960 graduate of Kent State University. Nancy married her husband William (Bill) in July 1960, and they ultimately settled in Elyria in the mid-1960's. Nancy was a longtime substitute teacher for Elyria City Schools, especially while her sons were in school. She was considered a perennial favorite among both students and fellow teachers and was always invited to post-retirement teacher gatherings. Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed baking, sewing, traveling, visiting with family and friends, and watching high school and college sports. She was an avid reader. She will be dearly missed by her son, Michael (Amanda) Kelley; six grandchildren, Trevor, Meghan, Joshua, Tyler, Thomas and Jack (surname all Kelley); in-laws, Frieda (John) DeWitt, Ed Rodenbucher, Robert and Dolores (Kelley) Winkler; former daughter-in-law Kimberly Whitson; and many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William, son, James Kelley and his wife, daughter-in-law Kimberly, brother, John (Frieda) DeWitt and her twin brother David DeWitt and his wife Sharon. Burial and a small graveside service will be at a date to be determined at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greenwich, Ohio.
