Mildred Irene Smith (nee: Tackett) 95, of North Ridgeville passed away at home on Friday April 14, 2023 following a long illness. She was born May 7, 1927 in Hurricane, WV.  Mildred had worked over 55 years as a registered nurse, she also worked as a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 15 years responding to many National Disasters including the Northridge California earthquake 1994, major Floods and Tornados, the World Trade Center Disaster in 2001, and various other disasters. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and time with family.  Survivors include four sons; Bruce Marian (Jacquie), Keith Marian (Debbie), Craig Marian (Maureen) and Patrick Smith (Deanna), additional survivors include ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Smith, and a daughter; Patricia Smith.  Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday May 8, 2023 at West River Cemetery in Columbia Station.  Reverend Chuck Behrens will officiate.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home of Elyria (440)322-4626.
