Mike Demyan 85, of Elyria passed away at home Monday November 19, 2012 following a long illness. He was born November 10, 1927 in Clarksburg, WV. Mike served with the U.S. Army. He had worked for Harshaw Chemical as an Analytical Chemist retiring in 1985 following thirty one years of service. Mike was a member of St. Mary Church in Elyria, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the Frank S. Harmon Masonic Lodge. He delivered meat, eggs and cheese from Amish country, grew Blue Spruce Christmas trees at his farm. Mike enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include his wife of sixty one years; Helen (nee: Baranski), a daughter; Debbie Rhea (Rick), four sons; Michael (Laurel), David (Elisa), Daniel (Lydia), and Mark (Stephanie). Additional survivors include fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; John and Anne (nee: Barrila) Demyan, and three brothers; John, George and Andy. NO VISITATION Memorial Mass 11:00 AM Saturday November 24, 2012 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria, OH. Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mike's memory can be sent to The Salvation Army or St. Vincent DePaul. The family suggests planting a tree in Mike's memory. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria (440)322-4626.
