Michael P. Simmons 78, of Garfield Heights passed away Wednesday October 30, 2019 at UH Parma Hospital following a long illness. He was born December 21, 1940 in Columbus, OH. Michael served in the United States Air Force, and worked as a fire fighter/ EMT. He was an accomplished artist; and enjoyed bowling, playing softball, gardening and golf. Survivors include two daughters; Audrey Essen (Gordon) of MI., Stacy Simmons of Cleveland, additional survivors include five grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters; Joan Linnert of CO., Elissa Kelly (Jim) of FL., Mitzi Lindsey (Butch) of LaGrange, and his girlfriend of over twenty years; Dr. Dodie Nelson of Bainbridge. Michael was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Sandra Marie, his parents; Raymond and Rosalie (nee: Ruden) Simmons, and a sister; Patricia Simmons. The family will receive friends 1-4 PM Sunday November 3, 2019 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
