Michael Kenneth “Mike” Martin, 50, of Lagrange, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. He was born on September 13, 1975, in Fairview Park, Ohio. Mike built his career in HVAC and Refrigeration, work that suited him well. He learned much of the trade working alongside his grandfather, an experience that shaped both his skills and his strong work ethic. He was handy, hardworking, and the kind of person who could fix just about anything. Friends and family knew they could always count on him for help—often paired with his quick wit and joking nature.
In his free time, Mike loved staying active and enjoying life. He played softball, enjoyed traveling, and had a passion for action sports. Whether it was riding motorcycles, four-wheelers, or snowmobiles, he loved the freedom of being outdoors and on the move.
Mike is survived by his long-time partner, Samantha Hegadore. He was a devoted father to Tricia Martin, Michael Martin Jr (Beth), and Tyler Martin, a proud grandfather to Adalynn Martin, and a stepfather to Alexandra Merrick (Kyle). He is also survived by his parents Kenneth Martin and Sandra Keenan (Steve); his brother Ryan Martin (Lindsay); and his nieces and nephews Hayden, Hadley, and Hunter. He will also be fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Kenneth O. Martin, Delores Martin, Raymond T. Miller, and Lenore Miller. Mike will be remembered for his sense of humor and the way he showed up for the people he loved. He is also lovingly remembered by his dogs, Harley and Cooper and cat Lily, who were rarely far from his side. His memory will continue to live on through the stories, laughter, and love shared by all who knew him.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 10:15 a.m. at Hosanna Lutheran Church 13485 Columbia West River Road Columbia Station, Ohio 44028. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 3341, 781 Huron Street, Grafton, OH 44044 Arrangements entrusted to Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home in Elyria.
