Michael H. "Mike" Barnes, age 64, of Elyria, passed away on June 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. Mike was born on December 2, 1958 to parents Charles and Diane (nee: Moran) in Cleveland, OH. He was a 1977 Graduate of Elyria High School. After graduating, he worked on an oil rig in Texas and moved back to Ohio and became a skilled trades journeyman at Ford Motor Co. He later retired from Ross Incineration Services. Mike had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and Cleveland sports. He loved to travel all over the U.S. He enjoyed golfing in his spare time and was an avid sportsman, he shared that passion with his father and uncles in West Virginia. Survivors include his mother; daughters, Megan (Alex) VanWormer, Jennifer (Christopher) Roy, Erica (Tony) DeRigo; sons, Michael (Amanda Ball) Barnes, Steve (Michelle) Thompson; brother, James Barnes, 6 grandchildren and life partner Grace Jackson. He is preceded in death by his father, and sister, Michelle Barnes. Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 4 PM – 7 PM at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road Elyria, OH 44035. Burial will be private.
