Michael F. Griffin, 76, of Grafton, passed away Saturday January 31, 2015 at his home following a brief illness. He was born October 9, 1938 in Fairview Park and was a Grafton area resident for most of his life. Mike retired as the Principal of the North Olmsted Middle School in 1989, was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton and formerly taught and coached in the Avon School system. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marilyn (nee-Bailey); daughters, Kathleen (Ryan) Bradley of Kansas City, MO., and Colleen (Ryan) Vincent of Columbus; sons, Thomas (Debbie) and James (Nora) both of Grafton, Timothy (Diana) of Wakeman, Michael (Vicki) of Elyria, David (Jocelyn) of North Ridgeville, and Edward (Shannon) of Wellington; 24 grandchildren; sister, Mary Kistner of Columbus; brother, The Most Reverend James A. Griffin of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sr. Mary Brigid C.S.J., Kathleen Barendt, and Patricia Begin, and a brother, Thomas Griffin. The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 3, 2015 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday February 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton. (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHAPEL). The Most Reverend James A. Griffin and the Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor, will be Co-Celebrants. Burial will be at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, Valley City.
