Michael W. "Mike" Hubbell Sr., affectionately known as "Mad Dog" of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at an age of 73. Born on August 15, 1951 in Elyria, Ohio, Michael was the beloved son of the late Paul Hubbell Sr. and Donna (nee Hambly). He built a life defined by hard work, strong values, long hours and an unmistakable presence that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. Many know of Mike from when his parents owned The Slot Shop, where many Elyrian's went for good times, values, and racing. Mike was the proud owner of Mad Dog Towing, where his dedication, knowledge and can-do attitude made him a local legend. He could fix just about anything- and usually did. With grease on his hands, he tackled problems big and small with the same unstoppable determination that earned him his nickname. He had a deep love for motorcycles, hot rods, racing, and a good swap meet! These weren't just hobbies —they were a way of life. Mad Dog's "Dog House" (garage) was a second home, a place of tools, stories, and camaraderie. Mike is survived by his son Todd Hubbell and Todd's brother Mike Jr., Mad Dog's brother Larry Hubbell and Todd's son Austin Hubbell. He will be remembered as a father, a grandfather, a brother, and for his vast knowledge. Mike's strength, sense of humor, and independent spirit will be missed more than words can express. He was one of a kind - a true original - and his legacy lives on in the memories of those who loved him. A celebration of life will be planned on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., (at State Route 57) in Elyria where family and friends will gather to honor "Mad Dog" the way he would have wanted - with laughter, stories, and a remembrance of a life well lived.
