Matthew J. Thomas, 46, of Elyria, embarked on a serene journey to the next life on December 28, 2023 surrounded by the love of friends and family. Born on August 10, 1977, to Clarence and Elizabeth (Early)Thomas, his life was a tapestry woven with deep love, family bonds, and the happiness found in simple everyday moments. Matthew's passion for automobiles was a joyous pursuit, one that resonated in the lives of those he lovingly served. His greatest joy, however, was found in the arms of his sweetheart, DeAnna (Crum), whom he married February 10th , 2007. Their life together was a beautiful dance of love, laughter, and shared dreams. His memory is a treasure to his wife, DeAnna; daughters KateLynn Miller and LilyAnn Thomas; sisters Michelle, Christine, and Becky (Bill Wright spouse); brothers Ken (Dottie spouse), Jamie, and the late Dale (Denise spouse). He now reunites with his parents, nephew Brian "Bub" Gregory, niece Ashley Thomas, and brother Dale in a place of peace. Matthew's heart also embraced a vast circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and chosen family members whose lives were enriched by his boundless love and genuine warmth. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs. The celebration of Matthew's life will take place on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035. Friends and family are invited to gather from 1 PM to 3 PM and then from 5 PM, culminating in a service at 7 PM. His final resting place will be a tranquil family affair.
