Matilda J. "Tillie" Bonafield, (nee-Sterling), 81,of Elyria passed away Tuesday at Lake Pointe Healthcare Center in Lorain following a long illness. She was born September 30, 1929 in Tunnelton, WV. And was a Elyria resident for most of her life. Tillie worked as a leasing consultant for Associate Estates in Elyria for 20 years, retiring in 1995. She also worked at General Motors in Parma for several years, was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Elyria and enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Greg Bonafield of Elyria and Dave Bonafield of Lorain; grandchildren Jason, Jessica, Guy, A.J., Nick, Justen, Brad, Melissa, and T.J.; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Bolyard of Morgantown, WV., Barbara Greaser of Kingwood, WV., and Gerry Brown of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Crabtree, Joanne Sterling, Ellen Bucklew, and Helen Pendergast and brothers, Winston, Paul and Sam Sterling. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:30 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 322-4626.
