Mary Ellen Williams, (nee-Kaine), 84, of Sheffield Village passed away Saturday August 29, 2020 at her home following a 6 month battle with cancer. She was born March 1, 1936 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria area resident. Mary Ellen worked as an Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of the Elyria City Schools for more than 30 years, retiring in 1998. A 1954 Elyria Catholic High School graduate, she enjoyed reading, cooking and picture puzzles. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Thomas J. Williams; daughter, Vicki McCroskey (husband Steve, deceased); sons, Michael (Ida) Cunningham, Brian Cunningham, Scott (Gray) Williams, Omer (Joyce) Cunningham and Thomas Cunningham; 17 grandchildren;17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Patrick Kaine. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Kaine. Private family services were held Tuesday September 1, 2020 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. The Rev. Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of the Hospice of the Western Reserve Officiated. Burial was private.
