Mary C. "Suzy" Major, (nee-Lightowler), 71, of Grafton passed away Saturday July 7, 2012 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange following a long illness. She was born December 22, 1940 in Zanesville and was a Elyria/Grafton area resident for most of her life. Suzy worked in the Human Resources Department at the Nordson Corporation for 26 years, retiring in 1998. Through the Norson Corp. she volunteered with the "Time and Talent", the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton and volunteered as poll worker for the election board in LaGrange. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Lewis Sr. ; daughters, Mary (Terry) Shank of Lorain, Nancy (Chris) Rhodehamel of Elyria and Jeannie (Rob) Watkins of Amherst; sons, Steve Major of Elyria, Lewis Jr. (Tek) Major of Lorain and Mike Major of Struthers, OH.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Cindy Cromwell of Zanesville. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton. The Rev. John P. Seabold, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Grafton. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
