Mary Ellen Shoemaker (nee: Schreiber), 70, of Elyria, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic in Avon. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 24, 1954 to parents William T. and Catherine (nee: Benton). Mary was a successful realtor for over twenty years, most recently with Russell Real Estate. She was active within the Lorain County Association of REALTORS where she served as the chair of the Community Outreach Committee for over 11 years. One of her biggest joys of the committee was coordinating an annual provide a Christmas for a military family in need fundraiser. She was also a member of the Elyria Kiwanis and the treasurer of the St. Agnes Altar Rosary Society. At Thanksgiving and Christmas, Mary and Frank delivered meals to the less fortunate from St. Agnes Catholic Church. Survivors include her companion of 22 years, Frank Santoro; son, Howard (Bonnie) Lynch; daughter, Michelle Shoemaker; son, Frankie Santoro; brother, Kenneth (Rochelle) Schreiber. Also left behind are her grandchildren; Ashley, Travis, Kailey, Adriana, Olivia, and Donte; great-grandchildren, Arrawyn, Brayln, Liam, Theoden and Raelyn, multiple nieces, nephews, and numerous friends that will miss her immensely. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church 611 Lake Ave in Elyria. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, pastor will be the celebrant. A private burial in Crossville, Tennessee will be held at a later date.
