Mary Ellen Flowers (nee: McCarthy) 83, of Elyria passed away Tuesday February 28, 2012 at The Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville following a short illness. She was born March 6, 1928 in Lorain, and spent most of her life in Elyria. She was a St. Mary's Lorain High School graduate. Mary Ellen had worked several years in the personnel department of The Ridge Tool Company. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria, and a life long member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Mary Ellen cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends, playing slot machines, and perch fishing on Lake Erie. Survivors include three sons; Kelly J. of Sheffield Village, Tim S. (Jennifer) of North Ridgeville, Jim B. (Barb) of Omaha, NE. Additional survivors include five grandchildren; Brian, Patrick, Haley, Kelsey, Abbey, a sister; Carol Male (the late Jack) of Eloy, AZ, and a brother; Tom McCarthy (Pearl) of Sun Lakes, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty eight years; Jack Flowers, followed by her long time companion; George Ach, her parents Joseph and Agnes (nee: Mollison) McCarthy.
