Mary S. Dragan

Mary S. Dragan (nee: Savanick), 90, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

She was born on August 16, 1936 in Carmichaels, PA and attended All Saints H.S. there and later Carlow University in Pittsburgh, the first member of her family to go to college, majoring in Art Education and became an elementary school teacher. On July 6, 1963, she married Richard C. Dragan, her husband of 63 years.

After relocating to Elyria in 1970, she became a homemaker and raised three sons, and was a long-time member of St. Jude Church. Over the years, she enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts, including quilting, painting and scrapbooking. During the change of seasons, she enjoyed gardening and watching her new flowers bloom. Mary was a lifelong reader and read many books from the Elyria Public Library. She enjoyed family visits and long scenic, road trips across the country to see her sons and other relatives. She fostered an exceptional strong sense of family which her husband and sons will be forever grateful for. Mary is survived by her husband, her three sons and two grandchildren.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, November 12 from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM at Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria, OH 44035. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 13 at 11:30 AM at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria, OH 44035. Reverend Father Jose Fifin CSJ will be the celebrant. A luncheon will follow the mass. A private burial will be held at later date.
