Elyria

Martha J. Snehotta

Martha J. Snehotta (nee: Conley) 72, of Elyria passed away at home in the loving care of her husband and son on Saturday October 3, 2026.

She was born April 6,1954 in Ft. Bragg, NC. Martha was a Brunswick High School Graduate class of 1972. She married on September 4,1974 to Dieter Snehotta. She retired from Invacare after working in accounts payable. Martha’s favorite titles were being mom and “Grammy”. She always said her best investment in life was her children. She treasured her time raising her child and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and was rarely without her husband, Dieter, by her side.

Her greatest hobbies were crocheting blankets, making quilts, and crafting. Martha made and gave away hundreds of blankets and quilts over the years never charging anyone for her time and materials. The joy was in giving and bringing happiness to others. She loved taking care of others, giving to friends and family, and people in need. Martha made many friends wherever she went because she loved to talk to people, listen, and share stories. She always looked forward to family gatherings, visiting with friends and family, and attending her kids’ sport games and activities. Other hobbies include doodling and artwork, watching her favorite TV shows and religious programs (while crocheting of course), playing card and board games, and doing puzzles.

Martha lived life with a steadfast trust in the Lord, finding joy in His presence and strength in His word. She is deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years; Dieter L. Snehotta, a son; Bryan D. Snehotta (Faith) of Amherst. Additional survivors include two grandchildren; Owen and Fiona Snehotta, sisters; Alice Rooy (the late Glenn) of Seville, OH, Brenda Ostheim (Roland) of LaGrange, OH, Phyllis Meeks (Wornie) of Harts, WV, brothers; Paul Rakes (Fay) Catlettsburg, KY, Robert Rakes Catlettsburg, KY, many nieces and nephews, and many extended family members.
