Mark A. Elek 55 of Elyria passed away after a brief illness at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center. He was born November 5 , 1958 in Elyria. Mark was a 1977 graduate of Midview High School and Lorain Community College. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary Church Elyria . Lifetime member of sons of Amvets post # 32 , where he held the office of finance officer and a member of the sports committee , member of Polish Club of Elyria , High School football referee and High School baseball umpire. Mark enjoyed gardening , woodworking , lover of trains . He was dedicated on Memorial Day placing flags on graves at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria. Survivors include his sister Marcia (Larry) Bright of Elyria , and especially adored his niece Jennifer-Elek-Hoffman and great-nephew Jacob Jeremiah. He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Diane (nee Haury). Family will receive friends 1-4 PM Sunday April 27,2014 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria 440-322-4626. Closing prayers will be 9:30 AM Monday April 28,2014 in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial 10AM at St. Mary Catholic Church (Elyria) 320 Middle Ave. Rev. Fr.
