Marjorie Alice Slack, 99 (nee Grueser), 99, of Elyria passed away on December 8, 2020. She was a life-long resident of Elyria, Ohio. Marge was born October 14, 1921 in Marion, OH. Marge was a successful business owner, most notably Nickoli's Grocery and Nob Hill on Lake Avenue in Elyria. She also drove school bus for Murray Ridge School and Murray Ridge Production Center for 15 years. Marge loved to swim and did so until age 96. She swam at the Elyria YMCA and University Hospital Avon Health Center. She also enjoyed traveling by motor home, re-upholstering furniture, gardening and walking. She was energetic and always on the go. Marge is survived by her four children, Marsha (Jack) James of Elyria. James (Kathie) Nickoli of Westerville, OH., Gene (Nan) Nickoli of Powell, OH., Linda Gartman of Avon, Ohio and sister, Starling (Nick) Demetrion of California. Marge has four generations of descendants, five children, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Elmer Nickoli married 25 years and Jack Slack married 30 years, daughter Margie Lou Slack, parents Austin and Verna Grueser and four siblings Selena (Bob) Dumke , Virginia (Meryl) Roti, George (Jane) Grueser and Joanne (John) Scott. There will be a celebration of life 5-7 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria, 440-322-4626. Per CDC guidelines social distancing will be observed. MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Graveside service 1 PM Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Ridgehill Memorial Park.
