Obituary

Marilyn M. Tipple, (nee-Martin), 76, of LaGrange passed away Wednesday June 17, 2020 at Avon Place in Avon following a long illness. She was born December 28, 1943 in Elyria and was a lifelong area resident. Marilyn's life was filled with much happiness and many fond memories. She was a graduate of Keystone High School, Bowling Green State University and also Ashland University. Her education led her to a 36 year of teaching at both Westlake City Schools and also Keystone Schools. She taught math and biology and was involved in many extra curricular as an advisor. She loved working with and all of her many colleagues over the years. She had a carnation flower Valentine drive and sold more than 300 flowers. The kids loved it. She was a local, district and state science fair judge for over 30 years. Marilyn had a passion for reading, writing, canning vegetables with her husband Bill, animals and being with her family and friends. Her involvement in 4-H as an advisor opened another door of fair friends. She served on the Elyria Public Library Board for eight years and also the School Employees Credit Union Board of Elyria. She was married to her husband Bill Tipple for 53 years, and as the bookkeeper of his business, B.J. Excavating, their work opened the door of many wonderful friends. Family was very important to her and she loved to prepare holiday feasts. Her famous Black Lab, Lucky, was her buddy for many years and the two could be seen driving the golf cart around to work in her garden. Survivors include her husband Bill; sons, Bill (Holly-deceased) of Bellfontaine and Matthew (Jennifer) of Wakeman; grandchildren, Sarah, David and Joey; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Liam and her sister, Nancy Martin whom was such a blessing to her when she was ill, and also manywonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Josephine (nee-Wojtowicz) Martin and a sister Freda Spinks. A private Memorial Mass will be Celeberated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Valley City. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Grafton will be the Celebrant. Burial will also be private. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Elyria Public Library 320 Washington Avenue, Elyria. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com
