Obituary

Margaret Eva Marie Hellinger nee Janosik, age 95, passed away peacefully at St. John's Medical Center surrounded by family in the early hours of January 12, 2022. She was born on May 15, 1926 to John and Eva Janosik, and had been a resident of Amherst, Ohio for most of her life. Margaret is survived by her three beloved children: sons Thomas (Ada) Janosik of Grafton, Ohio, Donald (Dahlia) Hellinger of Pearland, Texas and daughter Marlene (Mike) Hook of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; grandchildren, Dusty Welsh, Amy Janosik, Tom Janosik, Daniel Hellinger, Jessica Hellinger, Ariel Eziekel, and Jordan James; eighteen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many great and great-greats. She was preceded in death by her first husband Adam Janosik, and later Earl Hellinger, sister Helen Steinhouser, and brothers George, Andrew, and John "Jano" Kelovsky. Margaret loved the Lord and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Amherst, Ohio. In her later days when she became home bound she would share with those she loved how often she would pray her rosary and pray for each and every person in her life. She would share with others her relationship with the Lord and how she looked forward to joining him in heaven one day. To know she is with him now brings great comfort. When Margaret was younger, she attended Clearview High School in Lorain, Ohio. Once married, she worked for her husband for some time in the garage they owned next door (Hellinger's Garage). Other places of employment included Spitzer, Skate World, and later she went on to finish her degree at Lorain County Community College and then began her many years at Head Start as office secretary maintaining perfect attendance throughout her time there. Of all her jobs though, the one that she took most joy in was her job within the home. She would pride herself in a house well kept and long hours spent. She worked tirelessly for those she loved to make her house a home. When it came to hobbies, Margaret had a great love for music, taking up such instruments as the organ and accordion. Friends that knew her would recite stories of her coming to visit and pulling out her accordion for fun. Fishing was another past time of hers, as she would join her husband on their boat "Dusty" and catch perch (four at a time) on Lake Erie. Crocheting and knitting were probably her two favorite activities she loved because she was able to give of her talents, and those who knew her were lucky recipients of her many creations whether it was a beautiful afghan, baby blanket, pair of slippers, or dish cloths. Her love for doing this was shared with many throughout her lifetime. For a period of time, she donated her craft to babies at local hospitals through a knitting group at Open Door Church of Elyria, Ohio. In her later years, Margaret loved to share stories of her times growing up. She enjoyed many conversations in her living room recalling times from early on with those close to her. To hear her stories was a great treasure, and surely those moments will be missed. "Until we see you again in heaven..... lubim t'a mama!" (tapping toes). Burial will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria, 440-322-4626. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.laubenthalmercado.com
