Malcolm Diederick 85 of Elyria passed away Friday August 26, 2016 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home in Avon following a lengthy illness. He was born May 16 , 1931 in Elyria and was a graduate of Elyria High School. Malcom was employed by Convenient for over 30 yrs. until his retirement. He proudly served his Country in the Air Force. Malcolm was a member of American Legion in Elyria. He enjoyed golfing , woodworking and reading. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Nancy (nee Cook) , sons Malcolm "Cook" (Mary Jo) of Sheffield Village , Mark (Jennifer) of LaGrange, Ky. , 13 grandchildren , 5 great-grandchildren , son-in-law Dale Nash. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Helen (nee Smith) , daughter Mary Christine Nash , 2 sisters Tess Cook , and Donna Woch. Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Monday August 29, 2016 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be at 9:30 AM Tuesday in the funeral home , followed by a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria, Ohio 44035., where full military honors will be provided by VFW post # 1079.
