Louis Frederick Vinoverski

Louis F. Vinoverski of Carlisle Township passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2026, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.

He was born on April 24, 1938, in Elyria to Francis and Florence Vinoverski, the middle of three sons.

Lou graduated from Elyria Catholic High School in 1956. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at a hospital facility in France. He often enjoyed telling the story that he helped deliver 182 babies during his military service.

After returning home, Louis and his brothers formed Vinoverski Brothers, providing farming services to the local agricultural community. Together, they supplied the manpower needed to till fields, plant crops, and bring in the harvest.

Lou also owned and operated Carlisle Equipment, an International Harvester dealership on Indian Hollow Road. One of his favorite claims to fame was that tractors from his dealership were used in the parade scene of the film A Christmas Story.

In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald and Roland Vinoverski, and his nephew, Kenneth Vinoverski.

He is survived by his son, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter; his nieces, Julie (Alan) Gauvreau and Cindy (Chris) Finke; his nephew, Bruce Vinoverski; and many great-nieces, great-nephews.

The family extends its appreciation to Cleveland Clinic Hospice, as well as to Amy Lewis and Dan Landin, for their care and companionship to Lou.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57), Elyria. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
