LOUIS "RICK" VASI passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 1, 2025. Born on June 18, 1954, Rick grew up in Elyria, Ohio. He graduated from Elyria Catholic High School in 1972 and maintained lifelong friendships with his classmates and a strong connection to his school. Rick excelled in various fields throughout his life. He worked as an auto repair technician and later opened a shoe repair business using the equipment of and guidance from his grandfather, Louis Vasi Sr. Eventually, he settled into a 35-year career at Ridge Tool Company, retiring in 2012 as a machine operator. Rick had many interests, including Cleveland sports, traveling, working out, auctions, antiques, and home improvement projects. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who loved him for his strength, outgoing personality, and witty sense of humor. Rick is survived by his brother Tom Vasi, sisters Patti Devereaux, Candy (Randy) Brenneman, and Angie Clifford; children Allison (John) Welsandt, Anthony Vasi, and Ashleigh Vasi; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Brandon, Alexa, Annabelle, Angelina, Alivia, and Louis; great-grandchildren Kayden and Sophia and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant brother Angelo Vasi Jr., mother Catherine Ann Vasi - Coyne, father Angelo J. Vasi, and his niece Alexandra (Allie) Clifford. Family will receive friends Saturday 12/13/2025 : 2-4 pm where there will be a prayer service 3:30 pm at Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Elyria Catholic High School or St. Agnes Church.
