Obituary

Loretta P. Sprague, (nee-Guggenbiller), 96, of Elyria passed away Tuesday March 12, 2013 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a long illness. She was born October 6, 1916 in Saint Wendelin, OH. And was a Elyria area resident for most of her life. Loretta was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria, where she was also a member of the Alter and Rosary Society and the Quilters Group. At one time she worked at the former C.H. Merthe Co. in downtown Elyria. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Dale; son, Robert (Vicki) Sprague of Bay Village; granddaughters, Shona Christy of Perrysburg, OH. And Lia Meehan of New Albany, OH.; 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Guggenbiller, and sisters, Clara Guggenbiller and Matilda Meinerding, and brothers, Joseph, Carl, Albert, Leo and Norbert Guggenbiller. The family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
