Lonnie E. Simmons, 73, passed away with family by his side on January 14, 2026. He was born on April 15, 1952 in Elkins West Virginia to Earl and Muriel (Snyder) Simmons. Long time employee of almost 40 years of General Motors in Parma as a skilled trades supervisor. He will be remembered as a hardworking, honest man who loved his family and taught them the greatest gift you can give someone is your time. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn (Michael) Jacob and Dale (Eugienie) Simmons. Lonnie was a loving and devoted husband to Judy (Norris), his loving wife of over 20 years. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering support for his children from his first marriage, Kristen (Chris) Crawford, Matthew (Liberty) Simmons, the late Michelle Simmons and his grandchildren, Christopher, Kylie, Autumn, and Summer. He also leaves behind stepdaughter Sherry (Mike) Evans and step grandchildren Donald Wymer Amanda (Ryan) Beane, Savanna Wymer, and Dylan Wymer. Visitation will take place from 3:00-6:00 pm on Thursday January 22, 2026 at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) in Elyria. A brief memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. immediately following visitation. Burial will be on Friday January 23, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township.
