Leon S. Altfeld 88, of Avon Lake (formerly of Elyria) passed away Friday March 21, 2014 at Del Ray Medical Center in Del Ray Beach, FL following a long illness. He was born June 10, 1925 in Elyria. Leon was an Elyria High School and Ohio State University graduate. He served in the U.S. Army. Leon was the President of Elyria Belting and Machinery. He was a lifetime member of Temple B'Nai Abraham where he was a Past President. Survivors include his wife of sixty four years; Shirley J. Altfeld (nee: Cohn), two daughters; Cindy J. Bright (William) of Princeton Junction, NJ, Robin A. Kaufman (Neal) of Westlake, two sons; Clifford B. Altfeld (Lyn Lewis) of Tucson, AZ, Scott B. Altfeld of Elyria. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters; Dorothy Ackerman of Beachwood, Shirley Backer of Indianapolis, IN. Leon was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Daniella Altfeld, his parents; Alexander and Nettie (nee: Horowitz) Altfeld, a sister; Elsie Miller, and a brother; Harvey Altfeld (Sophie) NO VISITATION Funeral services 10:30 Tuesday March 25, 2014 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
