Leland E. Hardy, 89, of Grafton passed away Sunday July 8, 2012 at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky following a long illness. He was born February 21, 1923 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria area resident. Leland was a self-employed truck driver, a W.W. II Army veteran, a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton and enjoyed model airplanes and attending antique car shows. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Genevieve (nee-Tarnoske); daughter, Patricia Smith of Cuyahoga Falls; son, John Hardy of Elyria; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Harold Hardy of Oberlin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Eucker, and brothers, Ellsworth and Edwin Hardy. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. John P. Seabold, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will Officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Grafton.
