Lawrence R. Zigmund, 87, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at UH Elyria Medical Center. Lawrence was born in Cleveland, OH on February 10, 1936 to parents Robert and Margurite (nee: Kendall). He proudly served his country in the US Navy before working as an electrician for Ford Motor Co. He was involved in Franciscans, St. Agnes Parish Counsel, and enjoyed nature and bird watching in his spare time. Survivors include his wife, Therese M. (nee: Grisez); daughters, Adela Vinci of Marietta, DeAnne Zigmund of Florida, Irene (James) Williams of Marietta, Victoria (Aaron) Fowler of Lorain; sons, Mitchell (Liens) of PA., Michael of Michigan, Anthony of Elyria, Ronald (Joann) of South Carolina, Francis (Marsha) of Florida; brothers, Charlie (Cathy) of Kentucky, Mick of Jefferson; numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy (nee: Oplaka), and second wife, Beverly; daughter, Theresa Ann Zigmund; son, Christopher Robert; brothers, Tom and Kenneth. Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4-7 PM at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440) 322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church 611 Lake Ave. Elyria, OH 44035 at 10 AM Friday, February 24, 2023 with Rev. Fr. Charles T. Diedrick Officiating.
