Lawrence "Larry" Jaycox, Sr.

Lawrence “Larry” Jaycox, Sr., 82, of Elyria, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at UH Elyria Medical Center. He was born in Elyria to parents Lawrence “Bill” Jaycox and Mabel (nee: Shook). He dedicated many years of service to General Motors, where he worked in the Sheet Metal Finishing Department before his retirement. In March of 1979, he married his sweetheart, Janet, beginning a loving partnership that was the foundation of his life. Together, they enjoyed countless Sunday road trips, creating cherished memories along the way. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures and was an avid sports fan who rarely missed watching the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed following the game of golf. He also loved spending time fishing, where he found peace and relaxation. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his unwavering love for Janet, and the kindness and warmth he shared with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survivors include his wife, Janet (nee: Wohlever); daughter, Shannon (Jason) Smith; son, Roy (Shona) Cauthern III; sister, Lois Brown; grandchildren, Tyler Jaycox, Jayde Jaycox, Logan Jaycox, Tate (Sierra) Smith, Cooper Smith, and Dustin Cauthern. He is preceded in death by his  son, Lawrence "Jay" Jaycox, Jr. and sisters, JoAnn Elicker and Marilyn Ross. All services are private. Burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Amherst, Ohio.
