Lawrence S. "Rum" Koviak 78, of Elyria passed away at home on Friday April 1, 2016 following a long illness. He was born August 29, 1937 in Elyria. Rum was an Elyria High School graduate, and had worked for Alltel for forty five years as a telephone repairman. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and gardening. Rum's unconditional love and kindness was appreciated and will be missed by many. Survivors include five daughters; Diahann M. Gott (Lisa Sawyer) of Elyria, Denise L. Arnoczky (John) of Elyria, Christine Stanley (Argil) of Norwalk, Constance Boardwine (Bud) of Lorain, Donna Scheidler of Elyria, three sons; Larry C. Koviak (Christy Marks) of Sullivan, Duane L. Gott (Linda) of Wellington, Denny M. Gott (Darlene) of Grafton. Additional survivors include eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a sister; Nancy Justavick of Berea. Rum was preceded in death in 2010 by his wife and the love of his life for forty years; Marla Koviak (nee: Knepper), a son; Darryl E. Gott, his parents; Thomas and Clara (nee: Dumke) Koviak, a sister; Ann Machock, and two brothers; Tim and Fred Koviak. A Celebration of Rum's Life will be at 2:00 PM Saturday April 16, 2016 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
