Lawrence W. Johnson, 70, of Elyria passed away Thursday February 22, 2018 at his home. He was born August 23, 1947 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Larry worked as a steelworker at United States Steel in Lorain for 34 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. Survivors include his sons, Robert (Nancy) Johnson and James Johnson; 6 grandchildren; sister, Carol Maser; brothers, Alan and Ronald Johnson and 2 granddogs. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday March 3, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Private burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Grafton. Per request of the family, at the conclusion of Mass everyone is invited to the church hall for a luncheon where the family will join them following burial. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary Church soup kitchen 320 Middle Ave., Elyria.
