LaVora Karn (nee Hawke) 93 of Elyria formerly of Columbia Station passed away Friday August 14, 2015 at Ames Family Hospice following a long illness. She was born September 1, 1921 in Columbia Station and was a graduate of Eaton High School. LaVora was a prolific crafter , award winning cook and baker , senior of the year for El Dorado County California , enjoyed cards , boardgames and bingo. Survivors include her daughter Jan Young of North Ridgeville , grandson Joseph (Maria) Young , great-granddaughter Claire Jaimee Young, sister Eleanor Brunger of Elyria , brother Merrill of Rogers, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert F. in 1990, parents Floyd O. and Martha (nee Oldenburg), brothers Ernest , Russell , sister Shirley Klesel , granddaughter Jaimee. Private Graveside services were held at Woodvale Cemetery 7535 Engle Rd. Middleburg Hts., Ohio 44130. Pastor John Ramsey of Trinity Lutheran Church MO Synod, Grafton officiated. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria 440-322-4626.
