LaVerne A. Vargo, (nee-Lauffer), 78, of Elyria passed away Sunday July 7, 2013 at EMH Healthcare following a long illness. She was born December 22, 1934 in Straw Pump, PA. and was a Elyria resident for most of her life. LaVerne was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elyria where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society and very active in other church functions. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John; sons, Brian (Michelle) Vargo of Grafton and Alan Vargo and Jason Vargo both of Elyria; grandchildren, Mike and Jenna;; sisters, Pat Short of North Carolina, Joyce Perry of Oberlin and Cindy Curcillo of Avon; brother, John Lauffer of Florida. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Donald Dunson, pastor of St. Vincent Depaul Church will Officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
