Laura Ruth Kaminski (nee Thompson) age 84 of Elyria passed away Thursday November 7, 2019 at UH Elyria Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born July 29, 1935 in Webbville Kentucky to Hobert and Maria Thompson (nee Hutchinson). Laura was a member St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria. She was a graduate of the M.B. Johnson School of nursing and loved her chosen profession. She was devoted to nursing and worked for many years at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Laura is survived by her sons, Steve Cooksey (Caroline), and James Cooksey both of Amherst; Mark Cooksey, David Kaminski (Kim) and Brad Kaminski all of Elyria. 10 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Kaminski in 2009 and parents Hobert and Maria Thompson. The family will receive friends Monday November 11, 2019 from 11:00am until time of the service at 1:00pm at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626.
