Keith M. Uehlein, 49, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2025 at his home. He was born in Oberlin on November 17, 1975. During high school, he played drums and started a DJ business after graduation. Prior to his self employment in the construction industry, he had volunteered at the Grafton Township and Village Fire Dept. Keith enjoyed playing softball, boating, tailgating at Cleveland Browns games, and spending time with family and friends. Those who knew him will miss his sense of humor, wit, and his willingness to help anybody who needed it. Survivors include his parents Dennis (Debbie); sister, Robin (Matt) Sczpanski; brother, Nick (Cindy); step-brothers, Joey and Mike Purgert; step-sister, Stephanie (Barry) Cook; nephew, Jacob Yeager; step-nephew, Brady Cook; nieces, Cameron Yeager, Zoey Uehlein; step-niece, Ella Cook; godmother, Anna Huber; and his beloved Beagle, Odie. He is preceded in death by his birth mother, Shirley Rae (nee: Brickner); paternal grandparents, Harold and Irene; maternal grandparents, John and Lucille Brickner, and godfather, Fritz Huber. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Community of Faith Church United Church of Christ 9715 East River Road in Elyria, followed by a reception in the Community Room.
