Katie E. Austin, (nee-Norman), 80, of Elyria passed away Friday May 27, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain following a brief illness. She was born October 1, 1935 in North Ridgeville and was a lifelong Elyria area resident. Katie was employed as a machine operator at Ohio Screw Products in Elyria for many years, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed reading, music and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Dean; sons, Kenny (Jenny) Austin, Dan (Sandy) Austin and Rick (Karen) Austin; grandchildren, Bob, Brian, Kristal, Maranda, Jamie and Keith; 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack, Lee and Fred Norman. There will be a Memorial Service Sunday June 5, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Fields United Methodist Church 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville. Dr. Tom Joyce will Officiate. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Fields United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.
