Karyn Sue Johnson (nee Kohler), 72, of Elyria, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2019, after a stroke. She was born July 18, 1947 in Elyria, and Karyn graduated from Midview High School in 1965. Karyn retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was the first full-time female letter carrier in Lorain County.Karyn was a much loved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She took great pleasure in her family. Karyn will be forever missed by her son Stephen Kohler and daughter- in- law Amy of Elyria; her daughter, Kimberly Hirsch and her son-in-law Chuck of Elyria; her brother Kerry Kohler and her sister-in-law Rita of Groveland, FL.; sister Amy Hartwell and her brother-in-law Ira of Cleveland; grandchildren Kaitlin, Grace, Ella, and Timothy Kohler, Gabe, Jobe, Odin, and Emelia Hirsch; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Jean (nee Buck) Kohler of Elyria. Family will receive friends 4 PM until time of service at 6 PM Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626. Pastor Dean Good will officiate. Burial Private.
