Karlheinz "Karl" Boecker, 85, of Elyria passed away Wednesday November 18, 2015 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville. He was born May 9, 1930 in Luenen, Germany and was a Elyria resident since 1955. Karl worked as a chemist at the Harshaw Chemical Company in Elyria for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elyria, where he was active in various positions. He formerly served as a Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack # 105 and was a former member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Testing and Manufacturing. Survivors include his daughters, Deborah (Steven) McCarter of Glenside, PA. and Dana Vandersommers of Wadsworth, OH.; sons, Gene (Jan) Boecker of Lake St. Louis, MO., Ralph (Karen) Boecker of Baltimore, MD., and Randy (Donna) Boecker of Easton, PA.; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn on August 28, 2015 and a brother, Gary Boecker. The family will receive friends Friday (today) 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Saturday November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church 295 College Park Dr. Elyria. The Rev. Laurie Miller will Officiate. Burial will at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
