Karen L. Kovacs (nee: Hawke) 53, of North Ridgeville passed away Sunday February 28, 2016 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake following a three year battle with breast cancer. She was born October 31, 1962 in Elyria. Karen was a 1981 Elyria High School graduate, and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Lorain County Community College. She worked ten years for the Higbee Company in Elyria at Midway Mall, and also worked at Commstar Credit Union where she retired in 2015 following twenty two years of service. Karen treasured spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to the most magical place on earth Walt Disney World with her husband and daughter, and had made the trip many, many times. Karen and her daughter volunteered their time at the Friendship APL in Elyria walking dogs. Survivors include her husband of twenty eight years; Jeff, a daughter; Carly N. of North Ridgeville, her mother; Marilyn Hawke (nee: Leslie), and three brothers; Don Hawke (Donna) of Wooster, Dan Hawke (Peg) of Akron, Tim Hawke (Donna) of Grafton. Karen was preceded in death by her father; Donald Hawke. All funeral services are private.
