Karen Ann Duncan

Karen Ann Duncan (nee: Sippel), 83, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at UH Elyria Medical Center. She was born in Elyria on February 25, 1943 to parents Philip and Vera (Scott) Sippel. Karen was a woman whose strength was evident to everyone who knew her. She carried herself with a tough exterior, steady and resilient, but those closest to her understood the deep tenderness that lived just beneath the surface. Her greatest devotion was to her children—their success, their happiness, and their overall well-being were the driving forces of her life. She championed them fiercely, loved them unconditionally, and made countless sacrifices to ensure they had every opportunity to thrive. In her younger years, Karen filled the halls of her high school with music, playing the accordion and crashing the cymbals with spirited enthusiasm. She had a personality all her own—steadfast in her opinions, including her well-known dislike of chickens, which she never hesitated to share with a smile. Karen’s strength, loyalty, and quiet compassion leave behind a legacy of love that will continue to guide her family for generations to come.

Survivors include her daughter, Laura (Bruce) Stevenson; son, Philip (Enrique) Duncan; grandchildren, Stuart and Iain Stevenson. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband George in 2002.
