Karen E. Anthony age 61, of North Port, FL (formerly of Elyria) passed away Monday May 9, 2011. She was born January 24, 1950 in Montcoal, WV., and had resided in Elyria before moving to North Port in 1997. Before moving to Florida, Karen received her Nursing Degree from MB Johnson (Elyria) and a Masters Degree in Nursing from The University of Akron. She had worked at St. Vincent Charity Hospital and Elyria Memorial Hospital. She was a Clinical Nurse Specialist and also had worked at Peace River Hospital and Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Karen taught at Manatee Community College in Venice, FL now known as State of Florida College. She volunteered and was active in the auxiliary with the Eagles and AMVETS both in North Port. Survivors include her husband; John of North Port, FL., four daughters; Rebecca Boyes, Brooke Hunt, Jessica Lachman, and Andrea Maiden all of Elyria. previous husband; Sheridan S. Maiden of Amherst, four step daughters; Kathy Decker of Vermilion, Vicky Morris of Vermilion, Connie Mayer of Amherst, and Jackie Berg of Knoxville, TN., and step son; John Anthony of Jackson TN., her mother; Edith Peters of Canton, two sisters; Sharon Korfmacher of Berea, Susan Spencer of Canton, and a brother; Thomas Peters of Olmsted Falls.
