Obituary

June C. Alexander, (nee-Carter), 92, of Amherst, passed away Friday September 14, 2012 at Huntington Woods Health and Rehab Center in Westlake following a brief illness. She was born May 1, 1920 in Amherst and was a lifelong Amherst resident. June was employed as a teacher with the Elyria Public Schools for many years. She was a member of the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ, was the leader of the June Alexander Band and enjoyed reading and music. Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia "Sue" (John) Riegler of Austin, TX.; sons, Charles (Hannah) Alexander Jr, PhD. Of Westlake and James (Sandy) Alexander of Elyria; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alexander Sr., and brothers, John, James, and George Carter. The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Attila Szemesi will Officiate. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ 379 South Main St. Amherst, OH. 44001.
