Julie Kay Payton

Julie Kay Payton (Pospisal), born June 10, 1958, in Wyoming, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026 at the age of 68.

The daughter of Dean and Bette Pospisal, Julie spent portions of her early life in Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado before making Ohio her home. She carried with her a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and especially loved camping and fishing. In her earlier years, she also enjoyed horseback riding, skiing, and golfing.

Julie built a meaningful career with KeyBank, where she was fortunate to work alongside many wonderful colleagues who became treasured friends. She was also a member of North Eaton Church of God.

Julie will be remembered most for her gentle soul and giving spirit. She had a natural way of touching the lives of those around her and was always looking for an opportunity to bless someone else. She was a wonderful cook who found great joy in welcoming family into her home, especially for holiday gatherings. Above all, she treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren and the memories they created together.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Bette Pospisal, and her sister, Cathy Pospisal Kerr.

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Payton; her brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Carla Pospisal; her son and daughter-in-law, Brien and Rochelle Dickson, and grandchildren Josh and Annabel Dickson; her daughter, Amy Dickson, and grandchildren Isla, Calvin, and Alexandra Beatty; her daughters Amanda Hardesty and Angela Rowell, and grandchildren Tyler Rients, Hollie Rients, Payton Rowell, Jordan Rowell, and Leona Rowell; as well as her niece, Chelle Graham, and nephew, Jason Lake.

In accordance with Julie’s wishes, private services will take place at a later date.

Those wishing to honor Julie’s life and journey may make a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society.

Julie’s family will remember her for the kindness she gave so freely, the warmth she brought to their gatherings, and the quiet, generous way she loved the people around her.
