Julia K. Sito, (nee-Harrell), 90, of Elyria, passed away Saturday December 7, 2013 at the Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville following a brief illness. She was born August 5, 1923 in Lorain and lived in either Lorain or Elyria her entire life. Growing up in Lorain she att ended Nativity BVM Catholic Church and was known as the "Blonde Hair Blue Eyed Iron Arm" pitching her CYO Softball team to the High School championship. After marrying her husband Tony, they moved to Elyria where they raised their family and ran "Sito's Polish Village,a neighborhood tavern, from 1962-1987. Julia enjoyed bowling, playing golf, pinochle and sixty-six, bingo and watching The Price is Right and "her" Cleveland Indians. She attended Holy Cross Church in Elyria and could be found visiting with friends and family as well as keeping an eye on her neighborhood from her porch swing. Julia earned the honor of "Mother of the Year" at the Elyria Elks Club and Elyria United Polish Club. Her greatest joy in her retirement was spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them at sporting events and other activities. Survivors include her daughter Janet Sito; sons, Ken (Kathy), David (Linda), Don (Joan), Jack (Jane) and Chris (Debbie); 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Lilian Metera. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony in 1983, parents, Frank and Mary (nee-Svetlyski) Harrell, brothers, Hank, Cas, Walter, Chester and Carl, sisters, Rita Smigel and Marlene Kilmer and a granddaughter, Niki Sito. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday December 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Frank P. Kosem, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Elyria East Little League c/o Kurt Koepf 136 Norte Dame Circle Elyria, OH,. 44035 or to the Julia Sito Family, which will then be disbursed to some of Julia's favorite charities.
