Josephine A. Blaz (nee Owoc), 93 of Elyria passed away Thursday June 15, 2017 at the Wesleyan Village following a short illness. To some, she was Josephine. To some, "Mamo." To others, just "Babci." She was born March 5, 1924 in the polish village of Orzechowka,Poland, she survived the German occupation during WW II and, in 1960, left Poland with her daughters for a new life in Elyria. A devout Catholic, Josephine nurtured her family with the same love and care she gave to her favorite roses. She is now with God and her husband, Alex, leaving us more humble, more thankful, and more loved. Josephine is survived by her four daughters: Emily Blaz of Grafton, Christine (Richard) Laubenthal of Grafton, Maria (Ted) Thomas of N. Ridgeville, and Joanna Blaz of Silver Spring, MD.; her grandchildren Brian (Samantha) Thomas, Greg (Amy) Thomas, Jason (Lesley) Buga, and Scott Buga; and her great grandchildren Abbey, Jessie, Rachel, and Sara Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband Alexander in 1974, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. The entire family would like to thank the staff of Wesleyan Village for their care and support.
