Joseph Eugene Taylor 67, of Grafton passed away Sunday February 2, 2025 at The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus surrounded by his family after a short, hard fought battle with cancer.  He was born April 30, 1957 in Logan, West Virginia and moved to Ohio at the age of three with his family.  Joe was an iron worker for On Site Stud Welding through Local #17 for thirty years and retired in 2018.  His true passion was music; he taught himself to play the bass guitar by ear, and was a member of the LA Band for several years. Once retired he would sit in his garage playing records with his black lab; Cooper. His true joy was his three girls. Joe is survived by his wife of forty five years; Mary Jane (nee: Bomback), his daughters; Erika Taylor (fiancé: Michael Ball), Jessica Pool (Brandon), two grandchildren; Bryson and Sophia Pool, a godson; David Kelley of Elyria, a sister; Judy Koman (Bill) of Waxahachie, TX., and his brothers; Pete (Donna) of London, KY., Randy of Elyria, and David (Lisa) of Bluefield, VA.  Joe was loved and will be missed by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Arthur and Virginia (nee: Martin) Taylor, his brother; Roger, his mother in law; Eva Squires, and his fishing buddy; Jack Squires. The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Friday February 7, 2025 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria where The Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick will provide closing prayers at 7:30 PM Friday immediately following visitation. The family will also receive friends for a Celebration of Joe's life 11:00 AM Saturday February 8, 2025 at St. Mary Church Hall 250 3rd St. Elyria. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers Joe's family asks that those who wish make a donation to any local Coats for Kids Campaign as Joe always wanted to make sure that a child had a warm coat.
