Johnny J. Szloboda, 80, of Elyria passed away Thursday January 23, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness. He was born May 21, 1933 in Cleveland and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Johnny worked at the former Pfaudler Company in Elyria for 30 years retiring in 1997 as a welder. He was a member of the Elyria East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed tending to his roses and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia (nee-Gerber); daughters, Jennifer (David) Snodgrass and Anna Szloboda both of Elyria; Megan Szloboda of Lakewood andf Laura Pretch of Highland Heights; son, Johnny J. Szloboda Jr. of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death his sisters, Kathleen Ondo and Joan Szloboda. The family will receive friends on Monday January 27, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
