John G. Weekley, 86, of Elyria passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. He was born November 29, 1934 in Shadyside, OH. John worked for Ford Motor Company until his retirement. John was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he was an elder, enjoyed wood carving, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, and was also a Little League Baseball coach. Survivors include his wife Barbara J. (nee Wyler); daughters, Barbara (Sam) Mandolesi, Brenda (Brian) Rutherford; sons, John Jr. (Lois), Todd (Lonnie), Tim (Fiancee' Laura); 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Donna Jean, Snow, Susie (Gerry) Berry, Debbie (Bob) Janiszewski, Diane (Dick) Henry; brothers, Mark (Linda), Gary (Theresa). He was preceded in death by his parents Emerson and Mildred Weekley (nee Travnicek); brother Phillip; grandson, Adam McNeal. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt.57), Elyria 440-322-4626 and from 10 until time of service at 11 AM Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church 1140 W, River Rd. North Elyria, OH. 44035. Pastor Bill Mugnolo will officiate. Per CDC guidelines social distancing will be observed and MASKS ARE REQUIRED in the funeral home and Church. Burial Private.
