John E. Scheutzow, 79, of Elyria passed away Friday December 21, 2012 at EMH Healthcare following a sudden illness. He was born May 12, 1933 in Chardon and was a Elyria resident for most of his life. John worked at Sears Auto Service in Elyria as a mechanic for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Army and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching wrestling and football on television. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen "Betty" (nee-Vince); son, John D. (Becky) Scheutzow of Elyria; granddaughters, Jeanette Linden and Sarah Scheutzow; great-grandson, Samuel Linden; sisters, Ann Jares and Henrietta Hajes both of Elyria and Mary Ann Thornton of El Dorado, AR.; brother, Ted Scheutzow of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary Scheutzow and a brother, Richard Scheutzow. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at 1:30 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
